The owner of Red Dog Kennels, Larry Hontz, is an avid sportsman and dog enthusiast. He has been concentrating on raising hunting dogs for the past ten years, and for over the past five years he has been  devoted to Vizslas. Larry is a perfectionist and desires to have the best Vizslas for both hunting and family dogs. Before he started to breed Vizlsas, he studied them for two years and researched every aspect of the dog. Five years and six Vizslas later, he did settle for the best.

Larry's training methods compliment the Vizsla breed. He raises his own pigeons to use for the young Vizslas first bird experience. During the months of September through April, Larry frequents pheasant preserves to further the bird experience.

About Vizslas

Vizslas are a refined hunting dog and a loving family pet. Vizsla in Hungarian means alert and responsive. Vizslas are highly intelligent and sensitive. They have an intense desire to please their owners. They readily respond to praise and attention, thus they do not require harsh training which could stress the dog to the point of training methods becoming useless.
